First of all, we would like to thank you for supporting us over the years. Without your help, it is hard to continue and it wouldn't have lasted this long. We hope that you will continue your support and slow the desertification process at our best.

Measuring the land dimensions before digging holes. Each seedlings must be at least 1 metre apart from each other for the future growth. Bor is using a walking metre to mark where the holes should be dug. Each hole is about 50cm deep and they are all dug with hand tools.

Our earth is as hard as a rock, so we use strong spades & sharp tools to make holes. Byamba is inspecting every single dry seedlings before planting them into the holes. Each hole is about 50cm deep and they are all dug with hand tools.

Finally we dug 500 holes to plant seedlings at the nursery field. They are all dry single sticks now, but they will soon turn green and look beautiful. They are the strongest and most suitable trees in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. Dusty Dundgobi welcomed all our tiny new seedligs with its dust storm. Our trees have to survive its harsh, windy and extreme dry conditions.

A few months later, this is how we left them before the freezing winter comes again...

OUR OTHER PROJECTS

As a tree planting project located in one of the world's dry & remote locations, we have to prioritize our needs to keep it going. It demands constant care, hard work & financial support and there are always a lot to do.

1. Tree Care Procedure - It is the most fundamental part of the project that includes watering all plants, preparing seeds & new branches, making plant beds & keeping weeds out at all times. When a new tree is planted, it is impossible to leave it grow naturally in the extreme weather, so we have to look after them well until they are well matured.

2. Human Resource Management - It is great to look back what we have done so far. Byamba & Radnaa have run the project over 30 years and now would like to find best suited person/organization to pass on the duties. As part of the research, we run classroom & field trainings to expand the understanding of this environmental project.

3. Background Logistics - One of our priorities this year is that we need to invest into 300 metres of water connecting pipes to be fixed in between two water containers before March 2010. Currently, we are carrying water in 10 litres of buckets by hand which is not reccommended by the health & safety. It will help us a lot of time, labour & to keep the water cost down. There are also other small scale investments needed such as gardening tools, water spray system, & benches for public use.

4. Carbon Neutral Programme
– You can reduce your carbon footprints by planting or adopting tress for all purposes such as just to do something good for the environment or for any special occasions including birth, wedding, death, or presents. We keep you updated on the progress of your tree & the project.
